Im also very happy with my new exotics..there were also very big dubble headed T.Campestris (much bigger than mine) for 35 euros, a J.Chilensis with some Butia blood in in as big as the Yatay i bought for 40 euros. A Cerifera with about 10cm trunk and about 6 suckers (flowering with seed) for 40euros :shocked: but i do not have the space to put them so i didnt buy it :icon_sad:
It was paradise! next year i hope to have another house with double sized garden :icon_mrhappy:

I just digged a very deep hole (about a meter) for my Oreophilus and put all kind of limestone rocks (big and little ones) and a mix of cocopeat/mediteranian soil in it. Its at a spot which gets some sun a day, most of the day is shade.

Hey Yonex, no i dont have the princeps..i just started a year ago with serious Trachy hobby. I wasnt really a Trachy fan because i saw alot of fortuneis here that didnt look to great (wind/cold etc) and wasnt informed that there are many more species.
Do you have a princeps in full ground? and do you protect it?

But still no one had ever done an examination to determine how much princeps is cold hardy. I also saw this: "Some say it got damage at 15F but small plants have been tested from -9.5C in UK to -15C(5F) in Alabama ,USA and Netherlands and Germany without any problem."

Thanks guys, Yonex thats a little B.Armata i bought at an auction for par euro. I still dont know what to do with the big guys, when i bought them they were just little and i never thought all would survive hehe, thats why i planted them pretty close to each other. I still have some nights to think about what to do with the space problem.

Yes its a site where you can put pictures but when you dont visit the site for some time they deactivate it and you have to buy to activate it again. I need to find some other sites where i can put pictures online for free and they wont get deactivated.

aah thanx alias, no offshoots, indeed just new set of spores 2 times a year. Under the big antatrica are little antarticas which are planted there 5 years ago, one year before the big one was planted.

@Scalar, before heavy frost i put it next to the other exotics under the roof and put a christmas light around the base to kee the soil free ice, it was wet because of heavy rain. I think under the roof absolute minimum was -9/-10 for about 2 or 3 nights.
I like the canariensis very much, the Yatay will not do great there because there is not to much sun at that place.
To replace the washi is an option because it is getting to big and i have to take action end of this year, but that place also had less sun and i think the Yatay needs as much sun as it can get (especially in my climate with less sun hours).

P.Roebelinii Edi, i have got her for 5 years now but 2 winters ago she was out to long and i almost killed her, Last summer she came back with lots of small leafes but again this winter she was still out while it was freezing. Now she's inside, in front of the south window but doesnt look to good. She is still alive and i have to give her some extra attention so she will be as pretty as before. Trunk is 1.3meters long.

As i was writing my last post to Alias, i looked to the Robelinii in front of me and thought, you look worse then the picture i posted here (made it a week ago). I pulled a spear and it came out and after that a nother one :icon_yikes:

You are right Branimir, it used to help to take her out for some months late spring/summer and than put her back in. They love high humidity and lots of water. In the house humidity is to low and i used to sprinkle her with water now and than. After that i didnt gave her much attention and slowly went downhill.

Today i replanted my Olea europa, it got to big for that place. Instead of the Olea i planted my B.Yatay there.
To get out the Olea was a very heavy job because it had roots which were as big as the trunk.

After i helped my D.Antartica a little bit, the new flush came. There were to many new leaves so all were stucked in the hart but i pulled some leaves so it got loosen. I think total flush is more than 30 new leaves.

Trava Fibrosa is always slower then Antartica. I had to help my Antartica because there are so many new leaves (about 30) so they all blocked each other. Because of so many new leaves they couldnt go up to grow. I gently pulled the biggest ones out a little bit so the all are not stucked any more. Since than all are coming out (one faster than the other one).
I also put a lot of water in the head of the Antarticas, which stimulate the gow of new leaves.

Thanks Marko, the agave american var is a real suprise in my garden because humidity is very high here. Its in full ground for 5 years and looks happy but stays bonsai. I dont know why but i i dont mind.

This is one of my oldest palms. J. Chilensis. When i start living in my house about 8 years ago i didnt know anything about exotics and putted some seeds in the garden for fun. Later i start planting exotics and years later one of the j. Chilensis seeds came out. This is very special in my chilly climate

Thank you. Spring is already here around 20degrC and sun except today. Butia is in garden for about
6 5years now. Dont know how old exacly it is. I bought it as a yatay but dont know if it is yatay.
