Butia capitata "Pindo or Jelly Palm"
Size:       Sapling (no defined stem)
Freeze:       Date: Jan 16, 2004 Min:-1°F / -18.3°C for <1 Hour(s) Total Freeze Duration: 3 Week(s)

Soil:       Sandy Loam with Good Drainage.
Protection:   Artificial: Complete Protection Natural: Snow on plant.
Comment:   Update to my previous post. The palm survived winter, and accidental pulling of healthy spear but this proved to be its undoing. Though was recovering well, apparently latter injury opened it up to infection, entire crown suddenly rotted & pulled late June. Due to recovery had stopped fungicide use. Will try again with new plant in better site.
