How does it taste?

Fruits sweet but moderately fermented. Those are the first dates to reach maturity. Usually first dates are not good but then follows the maturation of rest dates in great numbers and they taste much better.

Same plants near the end of current growing season. Perhaps in bigger pots they would have performed much better.

Perhaps there is a misunderstanding here, mother tree is not a hybrid, it is pure dactylifera of the Barhee variety. But to form edible date it had been pollinated with pollen from P theophrasti. So, if seeds from those fruits germinate, it will be created the hybrid Barhee x theophrasti.

Very good combination, early ripening of Barhee and mediteranean adapted theophrasti.
Great potential for frut in colder part of the mediteranean basin.

Thanks, but unfortunately it seems to exist only a low interest in them. My purpose however was in first line the scientific research in coworking with Muriel Gros-Balthazard.

There is a suspicion that Minoans were exporting theophrasti pollen to northern Africa and plot thickens more as theophrasti genes had been found in the genome of north African varieties. Picture is from seal imprints found on Minoan pottery.
Besides it had been found in Knossos the word Ponikijo  (Φοινίκειο) in  linear B script, which was assumed to mean a commodity in powder form. But no more information was available. Under the light of described suspicion, we may be on to something new here!
